How to get TJC Accredited

The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Gain insight knowledge from Yvonne Rockwood on the value of getting your center accredited and how surveyors are assisting in the time of COVID.

Yvonne Rockwood is the Associate Director, Community Behavioral Health Care for The Joint Commission. Spanning 25 years, Yvonne has overseen services in numerous settings ranging from community agencies, Outpatient and Inpatient Behavioral Health Care, Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization Programs.

As a health care administrator, Yvonne has led numerous accreditation surveys for her organizations. Offering numerous first-hand experiences, Yvonne can articulate both the challenges and rewards of the process from her experiences.

Yvonne holds both a Master’s in Health Care Administration and Master’s in Business Administration, as is a Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ).

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. To earn and maintain The Gold Seal of Approval® from The Joint Commission, an organization undergoes an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years (Laboratories are surveyed every two years). The Joint Commission is governed by a 21-member Board of Commissioners that includes physicians, administrators, nurses, employers, quality experts, a consumer advocate and educators. The Joint Commission employs approximately 1,000 people in its surveyor force, at its central office in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, and at an office in Washington, D.C.
